This is a great ride for folks wishing to start in Warrenton and ride to Culpeper (or start in Culpeper and ride to Warrenton). This Warrenton ride starts from Great Harvest Bread Company, which is an ideal starting spot for a metric century!! First off, there’s plenty of great public parking right behind Great Harvest and more importantly, Great Harvest offers amazing lattes and whole-grain baked goods to fuel your ride!!
The ride heads out of town on the Warrenton-Branch Greenway walking/biking trail and continues on Meetze and Green Roads. Which are great for getting the legs spinning since much of the first 15 miles is all downhill!!
You then wind your way through Bealeton and Remington (as you enter the town of Remington there are a couple of stores that you can fill your water bottles or pick up some extra food). Coming out of Remington you hit some favorite roads of the Culpeper cycling-locals and make your way past the Brandy Station fairgrounds and into the heart of downtown Culpeper. Take a quick stop in Culpeper, because your trip back has some short power hills as you make your way to Jeffersonton.
As you complete your ride you will be met with a long uphill grind along Springs Rd, which is a favorite road (and KOM holder) of local cycling professional, Joe Dombrowski.
