Well, folks, it seems that Hurricane Joaquin is going to ruin our cycling weekend. We were just informed by the event organizers (Culpeper Parks & Rec) that the 2015 edition of the Culpeper Cycling Century has been cancelled.
Joaquin is expected to hit the Bahamas Wednesday and Thursday, with the possibility of slamming into Virginia and Maryland this weekend before moving up to the New England area. Weather.com issued a statement saying that is “the uncertainty is too high to determine any impacts from Joaquin itself for the U.S. East Coast at this time,” so now’s the time to break out that trainer and hit up a few laps on the virtual Worlds Road Course via Zwift.
Rest assured that we still have some great local cycling events coming up later this fall… with next weekend’s Page County Grown Century and everyone’s favorite the Great Pumpkin Ride on Oct. 24th !!
