After last weekend’s Snowmageddon 2016 Edition we’re sure many of you are going stir crazy not being able to ride your bike. Well, we have a cure for your cabin fever! The Culpeper Cycling crew has been out scouting the gravel roads in and around Culpeper and they are happy to report that with the exception of a few slushy spots, the roads are prime for gravel rides!
Join us this Saturday (11a start time) at VeloConcepts in Culpeper for a mixed surface (read, muddy) ride on some of our favorites roads. It’s going to be a sloppy mess so DO NOT bring your Sunday best. The pace will be conversational with a few hard efforts thrown in just to keep you warm. But with the weather forecast is in the upper 40’s, it shouldn’t be all that bad.
Prepare to get Dirty
We have been riding the roads all week and while there is nothing to ruin a good ride, the roads are very sloppy and we expect that to continue as the snow melts from the warmer temperatures. That means you WILL get dirty so we do not recommend your $10k road machine, but your CX/Gravel or MTB bike will be perfect for the ride. We also recommend (but not necessary) having a set of fenders and we have it on good authority that VeloConcepts will have a few sets in stock.
Before the ride VeloConcepts will be pulling shots of Counter Culture Hologram Espresso (and coffee too), along with some yummy pastries. So get to the shop early and enjoy some breakfast.

What is your mileage estimate? Some of us haven’t been out much!
Ride distance should be between 27-32 miles. Which is about two hours since the gravel sections tend to be slow going.
