Spring 2021 Rides & Events

Well what a year its been! With the warmer weather and and clock change its time to resume organized rides, but with some modifications due to the current health pandemic.

Culpeper is lucky to have so many ride options and with the addition of a few new options we have up to 4 rides per week.

Wednesday Night Ride Series

Back again this year is the ever-popular Wednesday Night Ride Series.  This weekly ride rotates around the area and features a new route & starting location. The ride is a social cycling ride which attracts riders of many different abilities, interests and backgrounds who come together to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow cyclists.  Riders of all abilities are welcome to attend.

The ride typically breaks into 3 groups or pavings, A Group (19-21 mpg), B Group (17 – 19 mph) and a C Group (12- 14 mph).  Please note that unlike some of the rides in Culpeper this is not sag-supported and riders are expected to know the route (maps & cue sheets are posted in the Ride Calendar) and be self supported in case of mechanical issues.

For the full schedule and calendar of Wednesday Night Rides is available in our Ride Calendar.

Thursday Night Recovery Rides

After the weekly Wednesday Night Ride, many cyclists are looking to take it a little more slowly on Thursdays.  The ride takes place every Thursday evening throughout the season and starts from VeloConcepts at 6pm.

Each Thursday we follow the same route (about 23 miles) and  the pace is generally conversational, slower riders will have a chance to re-group too.  Rides will start from VeloConcepts at 6:00 pm and all are invited to hang around after the ride for some good ‘ol socializing.

Saturday Coffee + Bikes Ride

Starting the first Saturday in April, join us at VeloConcepts & 18 Grams Coffee Lab for a road ride every Saturday all season long. The rides are variable in length, but are generally 2 hours or more.

In the spring the ride leaves at 10 am on a rolling hills loop, but all are invited to show up earlier to enjoy free breakfast pastries, coffee & espresso.

Sunday Rides

The ride week ends with a weekly Sunday Ride! The route and starting location varies, so please be sure to visit and signup for Culpeper Cycling’s Rides Forum to get the latest ride information and changes. However, the first Sunday of every month we host the Sunday’s First Ride, which starts at VeloConcepts at 10 am.

Additional Upcoming Rides

Tour de Madison – Saturday, May 15  – Back for this year in its 33rd incarnation. With three route options available (65 mile, 45 mile & 2o mile) this is a great ride for riders of all abilities. A

  1. I am from New Jersey and will be traveling to the Culpeper area at some point this spring for a weekend trip. I am going to bring my bicycle and would like to find a scenic ride to take–anywhere from 20 to 30 miles. Do you have any cue sheets you could provide me–or give me an idea via a map where I could ride? Thank you for your attention to this,
